In an exclusive, Feriliser Association of India tells CNBC-TV18 that the fertiliser companies have not been paid by the government since January 2014 despite a Parliament nod of Rs 18,000 crore for the sector.
According to the fertilizer association, both the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) made allocations in current account and therefore, it is unclear why the government is not paying the amount now.
It further says that it is the finance division of fertiliser ministry holding up payment. The fertiliser companies have submitted bills but the government is yet to make payments, it adds.
