Umesh Choudhary, Vice chairman, Titagarh Wagons says some of the positives from the Rail Budget were that the minister spoken of India being the largest freight carrying railway, but it is a long road to travel because we are at a billion tones and China is at 4 billion ones with the same track capacity in an inteview to CNBC-TV18.
He also spoke about restructuring the railway ministry, which is a bold statement. He said he would encourage the wagon leasing market, which is again a positive.
However, the operating ratio having touched 94% is alarming thing.
One very important thing the minister spoke was time bound decision making in railways, which has been lacking. So,if that can be introduced in a systematic manner then that in itself would be a huge benefit for industry like ours and others, says Choudhary.
