Mahindra & Mahindra total automotive sales in October rose 29 percent year-on-year, to 53,438 units, its highest ever monthly sales, helped by strong demand for its passenger vehicles.
The company sold 51,316 units in the domestic market, a growth of 30 percent, while exports slipped 1 percent to 2,122 units.
M&M's passenger vehicle sales, which include utility vehicles and Verito car, rose 44 percent from a year ago to 26,932 units, also a all time high.
The company said it has increased production of the XUV500 to 5,000 units per month from October, which will help in reducing waiting period for the sports utility vehicle.
Its four-wheeler commercial vehicle sales were up 26 percent to 16,561 units, while three-wheeler sales increased 10 percent 6,973 units.
However, sales at Mahindra Navistar joint venture, which sells medium and heavy trucks, were down 27 percent to 850 units.
M&M shares were up 1.3 percent at Rs 895.75 on NSE in afternoon trade.
